John Alden, Vice President
Mr. Alden has more than 20 years of experience in international telecommunications policy fields, including spectrum management. He has provided policy and technical guidance to clients on spectrum sharing, the growth in demand for broadband wireless spectrum, and the need to balance commercial and public sector spectrum requirements. He has also advised clients on telecommunications development issues, including international gateway liberalization and regulatory reform.
Mr. Alden has extensive international regulatory experience, having served on the U.S. delegations to the World Radiocommunication Conferences in 2003, 2007, and 2012. Mr. Alden has also served the International Telecommunication Union as a regulatory expert, including as rapporteur and presenter for the ITU’s Global Symposium for Regulators for more than a decade. He has also been an editor and author, since 2000, of the ITU’s Trends in Telecommunication Reform, which is the major annual publication for the Sector Reform Unit of the ITU’s Development Bureau. Mr. Alden began his career in international telecommunications as Senior Editor of the telecommunications policy journal Telecommunications Reports.
Mr. Alden is a graduate of the University of Georgia, with a master’s degree in international communications from the American University in Washington, D.C.
