Arlington, VA, March 30 – Freedom Technologies Inc. (“FTI”) is pleased to announce the promotion of both Jay Chauhan and Colin Alberts to Senior Vice President status. Each has played an integral role in leading FTI’s growth and success.
Mr. Colin Alberts is an experienced professional with a particular focus on spectrum, telecommunications, space, Arctic, and IT law, policy, diplomacy and governance in advanced and emerging markets, and their intersection with national security. In his new role as Senior Vice President, Mr. Alberts will continue to provide strategic consulting services and expert advice to federal agencies, including the White House and the Pentagon, and private entities, to support their telecommunications, space and polar policies, and related mission requirements. Mr. Alberts joined FTI after returning from U.S. government assignments in Iraq, where he worked to create and improve an independent telecommunications and media regulator—the first of its kind in the Middle East. He sought to improve the climate for private investment and public-private cooperative ventures in the telecoms sector, by drafting advanced telecommunications laws and regulations, and negotiating complex agreements including license tenders and internet registration. Earlier in his career Mr. Alberts worked at leading Washington, D.C. telecommunications law firms. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Boston University. He has been an EMT volunteer for over 10 years for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Mr. Jay Chauhan joined FTI in 2006 and has become one of FTI’s premier experts on spectrum policy, managing multiple contracts, mentoring new staff, and supporting contract procurement, while providing exceptional client support. He supports commercial and federal government clients on a wide range of topics including emerging technologies, marketplace developments, FCC auctions, and Congressional and White House policies and how these impact access to spectrum in support of federal agency missions or business activities. His work for federal agencies includes developing high-level spectrum strategy documents, Congressional responses, and strategic communications. In his new role as Senior Vice President, Mr. Chauhan will continue to ensure that the FTI team is recognized for its expertise in providing client superior policy and regulatory consulting support. Prior to FTI, he spent his early career at CIGNA Corporation performing a wide range of information technology roles, including as a mainframe programmer, web application developer, program manager, IT auditor, and enterprise architect. He is a graduate of the Boston University Law School, Drexel University, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Information Systems, and The George Washington University. He was recently named citizen member of the City of Alexandria, VA Information Technology Commission.
