Arlington, VA, March 6 – Freedom Technologies, Inc. (“FTI”) announces the hiring of Elena DeJaco, Matthew Brown, and Matthew Vaught to provide regulatory, legal, and policy support to its clients.  According to FTI CEO and President, Janice Obuchowski, “We are extremely fortunate to add this latest group of talent to our superb team.” 

Ms. Elena DeJaco will join FTI as a full-time Legal Associate. She has experience analyzing diverse spectrum regulations and a background in radio frequency engineering.  At the George Washington University Law School, she has focused on the intersection of telecommunication and national security law, is a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal, and is a George Washington Scholar.  She has been with FTI part-time since May 2021 working on numerous topics including 6G, global spectrum policy, and federal legislation.  Ms. DeJaco expects to receive her Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School in May 2023.  She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Matthew Brown will join FTI as a Policy Associate with a background in foreign policy, international relations, and conflict resolution.  He has participated in academic research on violent extremism and, most recently, has worked as a teacher, translator, and local guide for displaced Ukrainians.  He has intensely studied the Russian language, and has extensive experience as a language teacher, translator, and tutor.  Mr. Brown holds a Master of Science from the London School of Economics, where he graduated with distinction and was awarded Best Overall Performance in Conflict Studies in 2021, before which he studied with distinction at Sciences Po in Paris.  He is a 2017 graduate of the University of Chicago.

Mr. Matthew Vaught will join FTI as a Legal Associate with a background in national security, including service in the U.S. Army Special Forces.  He served in the U.S. Army for seven years, including five years as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant in Okinawa, Japan.  Having served in a specialized tactical team, his experience includes extensive work in threat analysis and technical communications throughout Asia.  Mr. Vaught has performed as a lead tactical instructor for foreign and domestic military personnel in diverse locations.  Additionally, he has served as a lead communications planner in situations ranging from training instructions to combat missions.  Previously, Mr. Vaught interned at the U.S. General Services Administration, Office for the General Counsel, where he provided research, analysis, and memoranda for clients on issues relating to government contracts.  He also serves as a Journal Member for The George Washington University Law School’s Public Contract Law Journal.  Mr. Vaught is a 2013 University of California, San Diego graduate and a member of The George Washington University Law School class of 2024.
